Heartfelt Craftsmanship: The Artisans of Dolls4Tibet
A Story Rooted in Heritage
Dolls4Tibet began with a personal mission to create a doll that young Tibetan children could culturally identify with. Founded by Mona, a social worker and designer, and Karma, a skilled Tibetan thangka painter, Dolls4Tibet is a response to a family’s journey in blending cultural identity with artistry. Today, Tibetan refugee women and local Indian artisans in Dharamsala handcraft each doll, honouring a heritage of compassion, creativity, and resilience.
Crafted with Purpose and Care
Every Dolls4Tibet creation is inspired by the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, fostering imagination, emotional connection, and holistic learning. The Artisan Dolls are intentionally designed with simple, expressive faces, allowing children to project a full spectrum of emotions and create their own imaginative stories. Made from soft, natural materials like pure sheep wool and cotton knit, each doll is crafted to be as warm, comforting, and flexible as a true friend.
Empowering Artisans
Each doll is handmade by a single artisan in a supportive, inclusive environment, nurturing a sense of purpose and pride among Tibetan refugee women. Dolls4Tibet not only provides employment but also supports the preservation of Tibetan culture, offering these women an opportunity to share their skills and traditions with the world.
